We strive to defend progress already made and unlock the collective promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across interconnected issues, including climate, health, gender equality, human rights, the future of multilateralism, as well as peace, and humanitarian response.

As an independent charitable organization created to work closely with the United Nations, we bring together fresh thinking and diverse voices around innovative ideas to drive progress and tackle problems. We build communities of support and nurture initiatives to advance the dignity and well-being of people and planet.

Sometimes we work behind-the-scenes, shaping negotiations and connecting experts, advocates, and decision-makers. Other times we drive public awareness and involvement through communications, campaigns, and events.

Always we work to build collective action through the UN, the only place where everyone on earth can have a voice.

Our Mission

We mobilize ideas, people, and resources to help the UN drive global progress through effective collective action.

Media entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner founded the UN Foundation in 1998 because he believed the United Nations is indispensable to tackling humanity’s greatest challenges and driving global progress. The same belief guides us today.

The Foundation was created to work closely with the UN/ Indian Govt. and West Bengal Govt. to mobilize the ideas, people, and resources it needs to help solve global problems at scale. We focus on issues at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals, build novel innovations and partnerships across sectors to grow a diverse and durable constituency for collective action. Partnership, and the power of smart and strategic collaboration, is in our DNA.

We believe everyone has a part to play, everyone’s voice should be heard, and everyone has a stake.
